With extensive experience in a diverse range of high-pressure journalistic environments within sport, such as club media responsibilities at Carshalton Athletic and Sutton United, Fulham and Brentford Editorship at sports website Vavel.com, and an internship at the Cricketer, I have well-developed multi-media skills and above all strong writing and researching skills. Also, I have been presented with The Nick Lewis Memorial Trust Award for the highest-achieving BA Journalism student in consecutive years at City University of London.
JOURNALISM EXPERIENCE
1st Team Media Officer, Carshalton Athletic July 2024 - Present
- Produced in depth thousand-word match previews weekly to be published on the Carshalton website that require hours of research and strong writing skills.
- Evidence an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment during a 90-minute football match, running the Twitter commentary and taking notes for a detail-orientated match report to a tight deadline.
- Conduct lengthy post-match interviews with the Men’s and Women’s First Team Manager’s and Man of the Match, breaking down the game into well-constructed questions that the supporters want to hear.
Fulham & Brentford Editor, sports website VAVEL July 2024 – Present
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills as Editor of two Premier League offices with a combined eight writers, distributing content and editing five to six pieces weekly.
- Accredited to attend Brentford press conferences, carrying out significant background research in the build-up to identify an original line of questioning for Manager Thomas Frank and produce an exclusive quote article.
- Creative freedom to develop compelling and comprehensive features such as tactical analysis pieces, demanding a willingness to work hard to ensure high-standard journalism.
Intern, The Cricketer July 2023 – August 2023
- Crafted three-four news lines, match previews, and features daily for the website and app, with articles regularly receiving over 300 shares online.
- Collaborated with five journalists and Digital Editor Sam Moreshead to cover breaking news, circulating 30 articles with only minor editing necessary.
- Shadowed Editor Huw Tuberville, observing County Championship coverage and an interview with the Surrey CEO, learning how to establish ‘the story’.
